Amanda Leatherman Bio

Unfortunately, there aren’t many details about Amanda’s early life as she chose to keep it private. We do know that she’s an American, was born in California, and has one brother.

Leatherman leads a pretty crazy lifestyle, and is not embarrassed by loud parties with an abundance of alcohol.

Her favorite drink is vodka with the energy drink Red Bull, and she prefers not to eat meat. In addition, Amanda loves to speak harshly about former US President Donald Trump and is known for her friendship with his predecessor’s wife, Michelle Obama.

Early on in her life she was a flight attendant and also featured in a movie “Detention”, then she decided to enter the poker world.

Career and Poker

Amanda Leatherman is well known in the poker community as a journalist and host of poker shows.

She began her career with the Pokerwire in 2006, which used to publish information about poker tournaments and participants. They noticed the beautiful girl and invited her to work as a reporter for the stages of the poker series.

She worked as a reporter for the Heartland Poker Tour, North American Poker Tour, and then hosted the hit poker show The Big Game on FOX.

The show started in 2010 and ran for two seasons. Many well known poker names have taken part in it, including Phil Hellmuth, Barry Greenstein, Scott Seiver, Antonio Esfandiari, David Williams, and Daniel Negreanu.

Amanda admits that she enjoys chatting with famous players and the game itself brings her great pleasure. While this woman is known in the poker world, she didn’t make poker game as her focus and career choice.

However, she found herself on television.

Her best-known role is as host of the popular PokerStars show Big Game. It was in this capacity that Amanda first met Daniel, and in 2010 she even had a short romance with a Canuck.

In addition, Leatherman also discovered the skills of a reporter. She traveled a lot to famous poker tournaments, and also interviewed their winners. Her reports and interviews can be found on the PokerNews website.

Black Friday 2011 blow below waist wasn’t just about online poker. Poker shows on television were also banned, including The Big Game.

Against the backdrop of the poker crisis, Amanda collaborated with poker sites for some time, led an active life on social networks and blogs. But then she got burned out and decided to take a break.

She took a job as a radio host in North Carolina and dropped out of the poker scene for several years. We saw her come back in 2015 when she co-hosted the Heartland Poker Tour and began hosting the Friday Night Poker show.

Amanda considers Doyle Brunson to be her favorite poker player. The 83-year-old is a true poker legend with 10 WSOP bracelets (second only to Phil Hellmuth at 15).

Personal Life

Just like with her early life and family, Amanda hasn’t shared any details about her relationships.

What we do know is that she met Dan, aka Kid Poker, at a poker event and they even dated during the time PokerStars aired its “Big Game” show.

At the time, their romance didn’t last long, but several years later they rekindled their relationship and it became stronger than before. The poker media darling became Daniel Negreanu’s wife in May 2019.

Poker celebrities like Bill Perkins, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Hellmuth, Eugene Katchalov etc, attended their wedding ceremony, which took place in Los Angeles, in a romantic location by the ocean.

Interestingly, alcohol and meat dishes were absent at the banquet, since both Amanda and Daniel are vegetarians. Currently, the couple doesn’t have children.

Amanda Leatherman Net Worth

How rich is Amanda Leatherman? How much is she worth today?

Even though this babe is well-known in the poker world, playing poker is not her main source of wealth. She earned/earns her income through the following means:

  • radio host
  • “Detention” movie royalties
  • former hostess of PokerStars’ Big Game TV show
  • reporter during world poker series events
  • poker tournaments and possibly private cash games

Amanda Leatherman’s net worth is estimated to be around $1-5 million (not including her husband’s net worth.)

Tournament Winnings

According to CardPlayer.com, she participated and cashed in 2 tournaments.

  • Ladies No-Limit Hold’em World Championship (July 2008)
  • $1,000 WSOP.com ONLINE No-Limit Hold’em (June 2019)

As you can see, almost 10 year difference between first tourney and the second one.

Clearly, Amanda isn’t much of a tournament player, but it’s possible she enjoys playing cash games (online and live), and occasionally makes extra income from it.

I know a lot of grinders who make tons of money in live cash games, or crushing it online, but never even participated in any world-level tournaments.

But Leatherman certainly enjoys talking about poker, interviewing poker stars, and even married one. Speaking of, if you’d like to read Daniel Negreanu’s bio, click here.
