Some are born into a family of card players, while others are just meant to find their way to professional poker tables somehow. Scott Seiver is the latter.

Scott is a pro player who, just like many others, started playing in small-time games but later on challenged big leagues. There aren’t many controversies associated with his name, but he is really popular in the industry, and that’s mainly because of his outstanding skills.

They say you need lady luck to be by your side when playing games like this, but your skills will get you halfway through, and that’s what kept Seiver going ever since. Right now, he is named one of the most popular poker players of all time.

Full Name: Scott Seiver

Scott Seiver Bio

This poker star was born in Ohio, but he grew up in Cold Spring Harbor, New York. Just like co-players Justin Bonomo and Bryn Kenney, he once was hooked on the Magic card game (MTG).

They say it’s a good foundation for professional poker, and I’m starting to believe that’s true. I mean, many big names in the poker industry played the game. It could be a coincidence, but it seems like it really does hone some of your strategic skills according to players’ testimonies.

In college, he went to Brown University in Rhode Island where he took a Computer Science degree.

It was during this time that he started getting into poker. He spent his free time learning about the game and showed great improvement in a short span of time. He went to casinos from time to time to play.

After a while, he stopped going to casinos because he needed more time for his studies.

But, that didn’t stop him from playing the game. Instead, he participated in online poker games. This included platforms like Full Tilt and PokerStars.

Poker Career

While in college, he juggled both studies and poker.

After getting a degree in Computer Science, he landed a job at Lehman Brothers (an American investment bank). But, that was only for a short period because he decided to pursue poker as a professional career.

And the rest is history.

With his passion and skills, it’s no surprise that he has won several tournaments at quite a young age. In 2008, he got his first gold bracelet for the WSOP $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em event with a prize of almost $800,000. But before that, he had several other cashes from joining other WSOP tournaments.

His name rose to fame when he joined the show Big Game by PokerStars, hosted by Amanda Leatherman (now Negreanu).

At the Big Game and other WSOP and EPT tournaments he’s competed at, Scott Seiver got to play with other legendary players like…

As you can see, this list is already long!

He was among the few contenders who made a great impression. He became famous for his mouth-covering strategy. Through this, he concealed his “tells” from opponents, making it harder to predict his next move.

Since he is a well-known high-stakes roller (like Fedor Holz and Justin Bonomo), his winnings are rather big, almost always a 6-figure prize money. And that’s how his net worth easily blew up for the better.

Check out the video below of Seiver’s greatest moments. According to PokerStars, he’s the most unpredictable player ever:

2024 has proved to be a great year for most poker players, but not probably as much as Scott Sevier. In fact, this year might just be the best for his poker career with back-to-back winnings.

On the 3rd of June this year, Sevier got his 5th WSOP bracelet during the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship and won $426,744. Roughly two weeks later, Scott also aced the $1,500 Razz event and took home $141,374 plus his 6th bracelet.

And just as the month was about to end, he acquired his 7th WSOP bracelet during the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Seven Max on June 30. That’s three bracelets in a single month!

Thanks to that, Scott Sevier was also awarded as the WSOP player of the year and is very close now to being inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame (probably soon if his career follows this current trajectory).

Personal Life

Despite his popularity and wealth, Seiver has decided to keep his personal life private. There is no news about marriage or dating life, and it has been that way for quite some time now.

Interestingly enough, most famous poker players are usually private about their personal life. They can have the fame and the riches, but they also have the “regular person” life outside of the game.

The only we know of, who’s been completely showing off his lifestyle is Dan Bilzerian. (Bryn Kenney also likes to show his luxurious lifestyle and wear fancy/shiny things, but nowhere near the Dan’s extent.)

Scott Seiver Net Worth

Believe it or not, Scott is part of the top 20 richest card players to date.

  • 2nd place 2015 Poker Central Super High Roller Bowl – $5,160,000
